November 2009: Tim Mahoney
Tim Mahoney, 3rd Dan, OKC Honbu Dojo
Tim Mahoney originally hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and has been studying Shotokan Karate since 1983. He began his karate training while attending the University of Minnesota. At the time, the school required its students to obtain a number of physical education credits so Tim signed up for karate. Under the expert tutelage of Robert Fusaro and Nina Chenault, both students of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama, Tim began his journey into karate.
In 2003 Tim married a Canadian citizen, relocated in Toronto and became a permanent resident of Canada. He sought out a reputable organization to continue his karate training and discovered the Toronto ISKF dojo. He was warmly welcomed in by the instructors and students and has been training at the HQ dojo ever since.
Tim is an auditor by profession and has worked in the banking, finance, and insurance industries for many years. He also has a passion for computerized graphic arts. Tim actually received a degree in Multimedia 2002, but only uses his artistic abilities for personal purposes. Over the last couple of years, however, he has been able to apply his talents for the dojo. He has helped create and design posters, medals, instruction booklets, and pamphlets.
